Writer's Summit Tip #13:

Get a style book. Keep it by your computer when you write. If you have any grammatical question, the answer is in there! Editors use it to check themselves when editing books. For complicated questions like punctuation around parentheses, these books have the answers you need.

There are two style books that most editors use: one is relatively inexpensive, and that is "Elements of Style" by Strunk and White. This one costs around $10.

The other is "The Chicago Manual of Style" and it costs about $50. It is available used on amazon.com all the time.

Buy one or the other and keep it by your side while you're writing. You'll find that when you go to have your work edited, you'll be more confident and if your work is cleaner, your edit expense will be less.

Writer's Summit Tip #4:

Resist the temptation to freely talk about your book while it is in the development stage. Typically people will offer you suggestions and their input could create confused thoughts, leading to writer's block.

I took this farther than most people when I wrote Angel On Board. During the three years it took me to write the book, I didn't tell anyone I was working on it and I didn't watch Angel movies or TV shows. I wanted the book to be its own creation without letting in influences from other works.

Other people also 'dream steal' - usually without meaning to, however, if you talk about your work and someone isn't supportive, it can negatively influence your project.

This book is based on my personal experiences with survivors. Survivors are the people left behind after a loved one dies. An inescapable part of living is dying. I have experienced, and enjoyed, nearly three decades of pastoral ministry to people who have lost loved ones to death. All the accounts contained herein are factual. I have not included people s names on purpose, to protect the privacy of people involved.

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your loved one or loved ones.

It is my prayer that you the reader, you the survivor, will benefit from reading this book. It is my hope and desire that you are able to process your grief with fewer doubts, and less anxiety; knowing that what you are experiencing is common to everyone who loses a loved one. After reading the chapters, I hope, and pray that you will be determined to live a rich, full life once again.

God bless you in your grief journey, and in your recovery.
